Smart Food Tips
  • Don’t drink fruit juice, eat the fruit.  Your not getting the fiber when drinking just the juice  
  • Avoid processed foods, buy natural ingredients
  • Shop along the outside of aisles of the grocery store, this is where the fresh foods are 
  • Avoid the word partially hydrogenated (trans fats) 
  • Make sure sugar is not one of the first ingredients on the label
  • Stop using too many store made condiments, lot of sugar in these
  • Be careful with the fruit yogurt cups, they have lots of sugar
  • Only eat whole grains
  • Avoid farm raised fish and corn fed meat, if you can go for ocean fish and grass fed meats
  • Shop smart by buying on sale and freezing
  • Buy from the local farmers market
  • Choose not to have bread on the table when at restaurants
